And her passion for Olive Garden

Not a whole lot of buzz stirs up when another Olive Garden opens in New York… however, the very opposite is true about North Dakota. Long time columnist for the Grand Forks Herald, Marilyn Hagerty’s restaurant review of the new Olive Garden in Grand Forks is getting a lot of attention this past week. Some blogs are calling it the best review ever written, while another is calling it unwittingly funny… I think it’s just a sweet review by a little old lady from a remote little town where the best restaurant they’ll come in contact with is the Olive Garden. No negativity towards the OG either… unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks is a favorite combo of mine for a quick lunch stop! But being from New York, we here know this woman has no idea what a real Italian restaurant experience is. That makes the review a little more endearing. I know, I’m setting myself up to be called a pompous New Yorker, among other things I’m sure – but I’m ok with that! The review is adorable and well written, and if you’ve never been to OG before you get a full sense of the ambiance. I wish I could take Marilyn for a dinner date to Il Mulino in Roslyn or Mario’s in Hauppauge – that would definitely knock her old lady socks off!!
